Today is International Noise Awareness Day and we’d like to take this opportunity to outline our commitment to effective sound attenuation.
We take great care to make sure our enclosures minimise the impact of noise pollution – the health effects of being constantly exposed to elevated sound are well documented. We believe that we should be supporting our clients to do as much as they can to tackle the negative affect of industrial equipment on people and wildlife. Whether protecting staff on a building site or local residents and biodiversity, we make sure that our enclosures are designed to reduce noise.
We aim to build enclosures that keep sound levels below 65 dB (A) or less at 7 metres, whilst maintaining the optimum performance of engines, pumps, compressors and generators.
We use a specially formulated acoustic foam, created using several layers of different materials, which allows us to reduce noise without impacting on space for equipment and airflow.
We've developed what we believe to be a robust testing procedure – measuring the noise emissions from a range of positions and distances under test conditions. However, the measurement of noise, and therefore noise emissions, is very difficult. Variations in ambient sound, environment, wind speed and particularly air density are all influencing factors – varying the results of noise measurements.
To this end, we are exploring new ways to develop best practice, and are hoping to work with the engineering experts at a local university.
Watch this space for developments!
