We’ve been training people at the very start of their careers since 1975, and over this time we’ve learnt a few lessons that we thought we’d pass on, as part of National Apprentice Week 2023.
Amcanu were delighted to take part in an induction day for new students in engineering and welding at Coleg Sir Gar.
Four of the top five most popular subjects taken at A’Level this year are STEM subjects. Maths, psychology, biology and chemistry continue to be top choices for students.
Amcanu have a rich history of working with apprentices. Training young people at the start of their careers allows us to identify those who will become an integral part of the Amcanu team as we continue to grow.
Apprenticeship schemes have been disrupted through the pandemic, with on-site facilities in colleges closed to students. Despite this, we’ve recently taken on two new apprentices, Dan and Rhys, who join our team in welding and mechanical engineering roles.
Congratulations to both Lewis, our CNC machine operator and Jordan, our technical apprentice, who have just received their HNC in Mechanical Engineering.
Josh Element joined Amcanu as an apprentice from Coleg Sir Gâr in September 2010 and then went on to be a welder fabricator. His experience on the shop floor, knowledge and willingness to take on new challenges made him a strong candidate when we needed a new production controller.
There's a lot happening at Amcanu
- but we're never too busy to receive new enquiries.
