Josh Element joined Amcanu as an apprentice from Coleg Sir Gâr in September 2010 and then went on to be a welder fabricator. His experience on the shop floor, knowledge and willingness to take on new challenges made him a strong candidate when we needed a new production controller.
Our fantastic local school, Parc y Tywyn is the latest Passivhaus and BREEAM Excellent school building in Wales. Our children now have access to light, airy eco-friendly classrooms which provide an amazing learning environment. Our town may be tiny but the facilities on offer are world-class.
We were delighted to support a local STEM event organised by Lee Waters, Llanelli Assembly Member (AM), in recognition of the pilot and adventurer Amelia Earhart. The event was for 100 school girls aged 8 and offered ‘flight’ themed activities to give them a fun experience of science and tech.

Our Phil Tucker is off to Hawaii to compete in the IRONMAN World Championships. Phil earned his place through an amazing performance in the 2016 IRONMAN in Weymouth – where he ranked 11 out of 883.

Today is International Noise Awareness Day and we’d like to take this opportunity to outline our commitment to effective sound attenuation.
We have just completed our first enclosure for Stuart Pumps, a Norfolk-based company dealing in the supply and hire of water pumps. The brief was create a ‘super silent’ enclosure based on a model we designed and developed for SPP Pumps last year.
A stone’s throw away from the Amcanu factory sits Ysgol Glan-y-Môr School, a place where several of our current workforce were educated and where the engineers of the future are already beginning to emerge.
With support from Lloyds Bank, Amcanu has begun installing a state-of-the-art powder coating plant and lifting hoist, which will halve current production time. Powder-coating is a finish that electrostatically covers metal products in a dry powder, before heat is then applied which makes the powder flow to create a hard finish, which is significantly tougher than traditional paint.

New equipment powered by diesel engines has become subject to increasingly stringent legislation regarding the reduction of emissions. Godwin Pumps has been working hard to make sure that their equipment meets US Tier 4 (European Stage IV) legislation on emissions. This means adapting their engines and thinking carefully about the requirements of the enclosures that house them.
